Legacy Amendment Fund

The Legacy Amendment is a constitutional amendment adopted by Minnesota voters in November 2008. It raised the state sales tax by 3/8 of 1% for a period of 25 years and dedicated the earned revenue to clean water, parks, outdoor habitat, and arts and cultural heritage. A website was created by the Minnesota Legislature to help citizens monitor how funds from the Legacy Amendment are being used. On the Minnesota’s Legacy: watch the progress website you can see how funds are being invested across the state.

As a Legacy fund beneficiary from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund this biennium, Indigenous Roots, as a fiscal sponsor, has been able to support Cypher Side in engaging with even more audiences, artists and partners to hold up their mission to cultivate a diverse and inclusive community that inspires and nurtures young dancers. As a central hub for youth dance culture, they provide a platform for learning and exploration across various dance styles. Cypher Side firmly believes in the transformative power of performing arts, which instills lifelong qualities of confidence, strength, and resilience in our youth.

Indigenous Roots and Cypher Side are grateful for support from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund of the Minnesota Legacy Amendment.
